Verónica Flores Zapata,
Experience:
Prior to working in a private practice, I’ve had the honor to work in various therapeutic settings including community-based mental health, hospital inpatient care, hospice, and college counseling.
I enjoy one-on-one sessions, facilitating group therapy as well as consultation and community education. My formal training began as a graduate from Loras College in Dubuque, IA where I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and then later earned my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
I am a licensed professional counselor and national certified counselor in the state of Illinois. I have extensive training in EMDR, IFS level 1 (in progress), Chicana/o/x Affirmative Therapy, psychodynamic therapy, narrative therapy, DBT, CBT and I am a certified Reiki Master. I am also in the process of relearning my own ancestral Mexica practices/ medicine and integrating that into my personal and professional healing work.
